With an SCA score of 90 and unusual elegance, this natural pulped Bourbon Amarillo coffee is grown at Fazenda Pantano in Brazil at an altitude of 1,150 meters above sea level. This Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee has a natural sweetness and nutty undertones, with notes of cocoa and chocolate.
Fazenda Pântano is located in the Cerrado, near the city of Patos de Minas, and covers a total area of 600 hectares. The coffee cherries are harvested and pulped, then immediately air-dried on raised African-style beds. Fazenda Pantano supports a local school and funds various programs and training courses for its staff. It is also certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
The Producer
Wagner Ferrero was born in 1956 in Altinópolis, in the state of São Paulo, in a coffee-growing region. Ferrero has a passion for coffee culture running through his veins. The grandson of Italian immigrants who arrived in Brazil in 1912 to work on coffee plantations, Ferrero is now one of Brazil’s largest producers of high-quality coffee, grown on more than 550 hectares planted exclusively in the Cerrado Mineiro region. At “Fazenda Pântano,” he produces 148 different varieties in the Cerrado Mineiro Denomination of Origin region, including Catuai Amarillo, Ibarê, Topázio, Caturra, Acaiá, and two exclusive varieties, UVA (125 IAC) and Bourbon Amarillo (LC 30-10). Ferrero uses the latest technology to produce high-quality, sustainable coffees, for which it recently received a sustainability award from a national magazine in the perennial cultivars category.
